Katrina Alger, DVM
Dr. Katrina Alger is a lifelong resident of Tewksbury Township. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and completed her Master of Science at Imperial College, University of London.  After working in engineering for a few years, she attended The School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis and received her DVM degree in 1999.  After veterinary school, Dr. Alger went on to a one-year internship at the Illinois Equine Hospital in Naperville, Illinois.  Dr. Alger worked locally from 2000 to 2008 as an equine ambulatory practitioner with a special interest in lameness, sports medicine, imaging, emergency medicine, and camelid medicine.  She is licensed to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California and is USDA accredited in New Jersey and California.  In March 2009, Dr. Alger completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society course in equine acupuncture. 
Dr. Alger is now operating her own practice where she will continue in ambulatory practice with particular attention to integrating her skills for management of the equine high performance athlete.
Dr. Alger has participated actively in the Somerset Hills horse community since her youth.  She was a graduate HA Pony Clubber from Somerset Hills Pony Club, showed hunters and enjoyed hunting with the Essex Fox Hounds.  Currently she is competing in Combined Driving at the Intermediate Level.  She and her husband Carl Furst are now raising their son Markus and daughter Katja at Windswept Farm where Dr. Alger enjoyed her own childhood. 
Carl Furst
Carl has been involved with horses since the age of 6.  He became involved with combined driving in 1992.  Carl started competing at the FEI level in 1998.  He was the singles Reserve National Champion in 2000 and was selected to the 2000 World National Championships with his mare Amber.
Carl continues to work as a professional driver.  He runs the family farm and shares management of the family Christmas tree business Alger Tree Farm in Tewksbury Township.
